Features of Supercritical CO2 Extractor

 

Use of CO2 as the preferred solvent is because of its ability to create a quality, clean and pure oil that is safe for consumption with limited post processing. The use of other toxic solvents may require additional hours to remove the trapped solvents in the oil after extraction.

 

The extraction is based on diffusion, a process where fluid CO2 is required to diffuse into the matrix to dissolve the extracted material and in turn cause a flow out of the matrix into the solvent. The extracted material is dissolved and released much faster in supercritical fluids than it does in liquids. Supercritical fluids have negligible viscosities and minimal surface tension compared to that exhibited in liquids.

 

Therefore, the use of superficial fluid ensures the extraction occurs much faster. Use of the supercritical CO2 solvent is suitable to use in the regular separation systems that separate individual constituents during the extraction process for its tenability, efficiency, and affordability. Also, the use of CO2 supercritical fluid does not only separate constituent components, but it also prolongs its shelf life.

Composition of Supercritical CO2 Extractor

Supercritical co2 extraction system(SFE) mainly compounds with:


Food grade CO2 cylinders (customer self provided, 99.5% purity food grade CO2), chilling systems, heat exchange control systems and temperature control systems, pressure control systems, safety device, material cylinders, purification systems, heat mixer systems, exchanger, CO2 storage vessel, co-solvent vessel(to add liquid solvent in the vessel, slovent like ethanol or alcohol ), co-solvent pump (to pump solvent into extraction systems), three plunger pump with flow rate (CO2 high pressure pump), CO2 Recovery pump, extractor (extraction vessel), separator (separation vessel), electric control cabinet, operation control panel, touch screen control panel system(HMI, or automated PLC control system for choice), data port, valves, pipes, and cabinet frame, etc.

 

The pressure and temperature can be setted in the system, in the systems, we can set pressure for extractor, separtor, set temperature for extractor and separator.

 

Technology Process Of Supercritical Co2 Extractor
 

Step 1. Grind dry hemp
This process is to grind dry hemp into powder, 20-30meshes.

 

Setp 2. Supercritical Co2 extractor
This process, put dried powder into supercritical Co2 extractors, setting suitable temperature and pressure to extract hemp and cannabis, can get hemp crude oil compounds.

 

Step 3. Winterization
Mix the crude oil with solvent liquid ethanol, put the mixture(ethanol and crude oil) into ultralow temperature freezer (temperature -40°C ~ -80°C), time about 24-36hours.

 

Step 4.Vacuum filter
Put the winterization mixture(ethanol and crude oil) into vacuum filter, this process to remove wax and some other compounds, after vacuum filter process, can get liquid oil and ethanol mixture.

 

Step 5. Rotary evaporator
Setting temperature and using rotary evaporator to remove ethanol from mixture, ethanol can be recycled.

 

Step 6. Molecular short path distillation
This process to remove resin, improve purity, color, safety, and value of cannabis oil.

 

Step 7. HPLC system
This process by using HPLC System to remove THC from CBD full spectrum oil

 

Step 8. Nutsche filter dryer
This process by using Nutsche filter dryer to get isolate.
