Extract microalgae oil using subcritical fluid extraction technology
The dried microalgae raw materials are then placed into the extraction tank, with the loading volume typically being 50% to 60% of the tank's capacity. Select an appropriate subcritical fluid solvent, start the stirring device inside the extraction tank, and ensure that the microalgae can fully come into contact with the solvent.
Carry out ethyl esterification on the extracted microalgae oil
The extracted microalgae oil is added to the reaction vessel, and an appropriate amount of ethanol and catalyst (such as sulfuric acid or sodium methoxide) are added. The reaction temperature is generally controlled at 60 to 80℃, and the reaction time is 2 to 4 hours. Through the esterification reaction, the free fatty acids and triglycerides in the microalgae oil are converted into ethyl esters, which is convenient for the subsequent molecular distillation operation.
Enrich EPA in the algae oil by molecular distillation.
The esterified microalgae oil is pumped into the evaporator of the molecular distillation device through the feed pump. By adjusting parameters such as evaporation temperature, condensation temperature, scraper rotation speed and vacuum degree, the process conditions of molecular distillation were optimized to enhance the purity and yield of EPA.
