Subcritical extraction equipment for high value oil process solution

Nov 14, 2024 Leave a message

Subcritical extraction equipment performs extraction at ambient temperature and desolvation at low temperature (less than 40°C). This low temperature condition helps to protect the heat-sensitive components of valuable oils and fats from destruction. This is important to maintain the nutritional value and flavour properties of the oils and fats.

Subcritical extraction equipment is able to efficiently extract oils and fats from raw materials with a capacity of up to 100 tonnes/day in a single production line, which is a significant advantage for the large-scale production of valuable oils and fats. The feedstock consumes less than 8kg of solvent, which means that less solvent is used in the extraction process, resulting in lower costs and a reduced environmental impact. Since subcritical extraction uses processing aids for the food industry (e.g. butane and propane) and these solvents can be recycled, the environmental impact is low. At the same time, these solvents comply with national food safety standards, ensuring the safety of the extracted fats and oils.

Subcritical extraction equipment allows for more precise control of extraction conditions, resulting in purer, higher quality oils and fats. This is very favourable to increase the market value and consumer acceptance of valuable fats and oils.

As the extraction process takes place at lower temperatures, the risk of oxidisation and degradation of the oils is reduced, which is important to maintain the freshness of the oils and prolong their shelf life.

Subcritical extraction equipment can be applied to the extraction of many kinds of valuable fats and oils, such as peony seed oil, grape seed oil, sea buckthorn oil, etc., which provides technical support for the development of new valuable fat and oil products.

Classification of Oil-Bearing Seeds

Botanical Families: Seeds can be classified based on their botanical families, such as legumes (e.g., soybeans), Brassicaceae (e.g., rapeseed), or Asteraceae (e.g., sunflowers).

Oil Content: Seeds are often categorized by the percentage of oil they contain, which can range from low to very high.

Edible vs. Non-Edible: Some seeds produce oils suitable for human consumption, while others are used for industrial purposes.

Regional Specificity: Certain seeds are more prevalent in specific regions due to climate and agricultural practices.

Processing Solutions

Mechanical Pressing: A traditional method where seeds are mechanically pressed to extract oil.

Solvent Extraction: Involves using solvents to dissolve the oil, which is then separated from the solvent.

Cold Pressing: Used for seeds where heat can degrade the oil, preserving the nutritional value and flavor.

Expeller Pressing: A mechanical process that uses an expeller to squeeze oil from seeds.

Supercritical Fluid Extraction: Uses supercritical fluids, often CO2, to extract oil without the use of heat or solvents.

Evaluating Profitability

Market Analysis: Assess the demand for different types of plant oils and identify potential gaps in the market.

Cost of Raw Materials: Consider the cost of acquiring seeds and how it might fluctuate with market conditions.

Processing Costs: Include the costs of equipment, energy, labor, and any chemicals or solvents used.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with food safety and environmental regulations, which can add to costs but are necessary for operation.

Competitive Landscape: Understand the competition and how your product can differentiate itself.

Investment in Technology: Modern extraction technologies can improve efficiency and reduce costs but require initial investment.

Environmental Impact: Consider the sustainability of your operations, as eco-friendly practices can enhance your brand image and potentially reduce costs.

Financial Projections: Develop detailed financial models to project revenue, costs, and potential returns on investment
