Hot air belt drying technology principle

The hot air belt dryer employs a sequential drying method from the outside in, transferring heat and mass through the vertical penetration of hot air into the material layer. The equipment mainly consists of a feeder, stainless steel mesh belt, drying units, heat exchangers, circulating fans, and exhaust fans. The material is evenly spread on the stainless steel mesh belt by the feeder and moved within the dryer by a transmission device. The drying section comprises several independent units, each with its own independent hot air circulation system. Hot air is generated by the circulating fan, heated by the heat exchanger, and then blown onto the mesh belt in a jet stream, passing through the material layer to complete the drying process.

Technical advantages and features

1. Energy Saving and Environmentally Friendly: The hot air belt dryer utilizes hot air circulation technology, reusing most of the air for energy saving. The equipment can be configured with clean energy sources (such as solar or biomass energy), reducing dependence on traditional energy sources and lowering exhaust emissions.

2. High Degree of Automation: Equipped with an intelligent control system, the equipment can automatically feed, dry, and discharge the entire process, significantly reducing labor costs. Features such as PLC automation control, automatic temperature control, video monitoring, and automatic conveyor belt correction enable 24-hour continuous operation. Operation is simple and requires minimal technical expertise.

3. Excellent Drying Uniformity: Employing pulsed through-flow air delivery technology, the drying uniformity is greatly improved, and the drying cycle is shortened. The equipment is divided into several units, each with independently controllable circulation loops. Operating parameters can be adjusted according to different material properties, ensuring stable and uniform material turnover within the chamber, resulting in more thorough heat and mass exchange and more uniform drying.

Process parameters and key operating points

1. Drying Temperature Control: The drying temperature for black soldier flies is typically controlled within the range of 60-75℃.

2. Spreading Thickness and Tray Requirements: When spreading the material on trays, it should be laid as flat as possible, with a thickness of approximately 2cm.

3. Drying Time and Moisture Control: The drying time for black soldier flies varies depending on the type of equipment and process parameters, generally ranging from 5 to 16 hours. The moisture content of the dried black soldier flies should be controlled below 8%-10%.

Black soldier fly hot air belt drying technology is a highly efficient, energy-saving, and environmentally friendly method for processing insect protein. By precisely controlling parameters such as drying temperature, time, and air velocity, this technology can ensure the nutritional components and quality of black soldier fly products, while also enabling large-scale, automated production.
