What is the working principle of a large pharmaceutical freeze dryer?

The working principle of Large Pharmaceutical Freeze Dryer is based on freeze-drying technology, which utilises the three-phase change of water (solid, liquid and gaseous) to achieve the drying process of a substance. Firstly, the substance containing a large amount of water is quickly frozen into a solid at a low temperature, and then the frozen water molecules are directly sublimated into water vapour escaping under an appropriate vacuum environment, thus achieving the purpose of drying.

 

The main components of Large Pharmaceutical Freeze Dryer are refrigeration system, vacuum system, heating system and control system.

1. Refrigeration system is mainly composed of the internal piping of the freezer, the freeze-drying box and the condenser, and its function is to refrigerate the freeze-drying box and the condenser, so that the temperature of the freeze-drying box can be as low as about -55℃.

2. Vacuum system, on the other hand, creates a low-pressure environment by means of a vacuum pump and other equipment to provide conditions for the sublimation of moisture.

3. Heating system is activated after the material is frozen and promotes the direct sublimation of moisture from the solid state to the gaseous state by heating the material.

4. Control system is responsible for monitoring and regulating the whole freeze-drying process to ensure the uniformity of the freeze-drying effect and the stability of the quality
