Separating decanter centrifuge is mainly used for separating two immiscible liquids with different densities and removing solids at the same time.

Separating decanter centrifuge Principle of operation
The separating decanter centrifuge has a solid-walled bowl with a cylindrical part for effective separation and clarification of liquids and a conical part for drying of solids. The material enters the decanter centrifuge through a feed tube and passes through a distributor into the separation chamber. The level of the liquid in the bowl can be adjusted by means of a regulating pipe or an overflow weir. Under centrifugal force, the solid particles are thrown against the bowl wall and conveyed by a rigid screw conveyor to the solids discharge port (equipped with a rigid metal bushing). The solids are discharged by gravity.
The liquid phase is separated in the separation zone, where the radius of the liquid surface of the light liquid phase is smaller than that of the heavy liquid phase. The thickness of the heavy liquid phase can be adjusted externally through an adjustment tube or an overflow weir to change the liquid level in the bowl. The light liquid phase moves towards the bowl axis and can be discharged under pressure by a centripetal pump or by gravity. The heavy liquid phase, on the other hand, moves towards the bowl shell and is discharged under gravity through the regulating pipe or the built-in impeller. To prevent the light liquid phase from leaving the bowl through the heavy liquid phase outlet, the separating decanter centrifuge is equipped with a spacer on the inside of the hub at the large end. The heavy liquid phase must pass under the partition before being discharged into the housing.
Separating decanter centrifuge Equipment Features
- Can separate liquid-liquid-solid mixtures at the same time, greatly saving energy consumption.
- Capable of handling solids of various concentrations in the feed material.
- Flexible response to changes in the concentration of light and heavy liquid phases in the feed material.
- Built-in centripetal pump discharges the liquid phase under pressure, eliminating the need for a downstream transfer pump.
