Products Description
Ethanol extraction centrifuges are specialized pieces of equipment used in laboratories and industries to separate and purify components from a mixture using ethanol as the extracting solvent. This process, known as liquid-liquid extraction, leverages the differences in solubility of substances in two immiscible liquids, typically water and ethanol.

Working Principle
1. **Sample Preparation**: The mixture containing the target compounds is first mixed with ethanol. The ethanol acts as an extracting solvent, dissolving the components of interest that are more soluble in it.
2. **Layering**: Due to the differences in density between water and ethanol, the mixture will form two distinct layers when left to settle. The lower, denser layer is typically the aqueous phase, while the upper layer is the ethanol-rich phase containing the extracted compounds.
3. **Centrifugation**: The mixture is then placed in the ethanol extraction centrifuge. The centrifuge applies centrifugal force to the mixture, which increases the separation between the two layers based on their densities.
4. **Separation**: The rotor's high speed causes the denser layer to move towards the bottom of the centrifuge tube, leaving the lighter ethanol layer on top. This separation is more efficient and faster than allowing the layers to separate by gravity alone.
5. **Collection**: Once the centrifugation process is complete, the two layers can be easily separated. The ethanol layer, containing the extracted compounds, can be carefully removed from the top, leaving behind the aqueous layer.

Key Features
1. **High-Speed Rotation**: Ethanol extraction centrifuges are designed to operate at high speeds to generate the necessary centrifugal force for efficient separation.
2. **Temperature Control**: Some models include temperature control systems to manage the heat generated during centrifugation, which is important for heat-sensitive samples.
3. **Safety Features**: Many centrifuges have safety features such as lid interlocks to prevent operation without the lid securely in place and imbalance detection systems to prevent damage from unevenly distributed samples.
4. **Variable Speeds and Times**: The ability to adjust rotation speeds and run times allows for optimization of the extraction process based on the specific requirements of the sample.
