The core principle of the commercial fermentation tanks are to provide a suitable environment for microorganisms to grow, so that they can carry out specific metabolic activities to produce the required substances.The working principle includes the following aspects:
1. Aseptic environment maintenance: the fermenter is sealed and sterilised by steam sterilisation, etc. The tank, piping and internal fittings are thoroughly sterilised before fermentation to ensure a pure fermentation environment.
2. Temperature control: the fermenter is equipped with a temperature control system, through the jacket or coil structure, using circulating heat or cold media to regulate the temperature inside the tank, so as to maintain it in the optimal temperature range for microbial growth.
3. Aeration and stirring: For aerobic fermentation, the fermenter can increase the gas-liquid contact area to meet the microorganisms' demand for oxygen through the introduction of sterile air and the use of stirring devices to disperse the air into tiny bubbles.
4. pH Adjustment: The fermenter is usually equipped with a pH detection and control system, which automatically adjusts the pH value when it deviates from the set range, either by adding acid or alkaline solution.
