Water Distillation for Essential Oils

Water vapor distillation is one of the specialized equipment for extraction. Water vapour distillation method makes use of the principle that the vapour pressure of two incompatible mixtures (water and essential oils) is equal to the sum of the vapour pressures of the components, so that the essential oils with a higher boiling point can be vapoured together with the vapour at temperatures lower than 100°C, and then separated from the oil by the separation of the oil and water, which is obtained from the essential oils. This method avoids the destruction of essential oil decomposition, hydrolysis or polymerisation under high temperature for a long time, thus improving the quality and extraction rate of essential oil.
