What is the working principle of thin film distillation system and how does it achieve efficient material separation?

The working principle of thin film distillation system is mainly based on a new thermally driven separation technology, whereby a pressure gradient is created on both sides of the membrane, causing the vapour molecules to migrate through the membrane pores to the outside of the membrane and condense down.

This process involves the principle of heat and mass transfer, as well as the characteristics of several major membrane distillation units such as direct contact, air gap, air sweep and vacuum. Membrane distillation technology is commonly used to separate different components from a liquid mixture, the basic principle of which is to exploit the vapourisation and condensation properties of different chemicals at different temperatures.
