Disk Stack Separator

Disk stack separator is a centrifuge with a series of conical discs that provide parallel configurations of centrifugal space.

Disk stack separator is a type of vertical centrifuge that consists of the following parts:

• Drum: mounted on the upper end of the vertical shaft, driven by an electric motor through the transmission device and rotating at high speed. Inside the drum, there is a set of disc-shaped parts - discs - that are stacked on top of each other. There is a small gap between the disk and the disk.
• Discs: the drum is equipped with many conical discs that keep a certain distance from each other, and the liquid flows into a thin layer between the discs for separation, reducing the liquid disturbance and settling distance and increasing the settling area, thus greatly improving the production capacity and separation efficiency.
• Drive system: the drive structure makes the centrifuge rotor rotate at high speed, which is one of the core technologies in centrifuge design and needs to ensure the reliable operation of the centrifuge.
• Feed pipe: located in the center of the drum, used to add suspension (or emulsion).
• Discharge port: used to discharge the separated liquid.
• Discharge mechanism: used to discharge solid particles from the drum without stopping the machine.

When the suspension (or emulsion) under the action of the dynamic pressure head, through the center tube into the gap between the high-speed rotation of the discs, it generates inertial centrifugal force. Which the density of solid particles under the action of centrifugal force to the upper layer of the lower surface of the disc movement, and then under the action of centrifugal force is thrown outward along the lower surface of the disc to the rotor periphery down. The liquid with small density, driven by the subsequent liquid, flows along the gap channel of the disc to the center of the rotor, and then rises along the central axis and is discharged from the casing to achieve the purpose of separation.

Disk stack separator can accomplish two kinds of operation:

• Liquid-solid separation: that is, the separation of the bottom concentration suspension, called clarification operation. At this time, the disk waist is not open hole, the liquid outlet is only one. Dense solid-phase particles are deposited along the lower surface of the disk to the inner wall of the drum and discharged periodically; the clarified liquid flows along the upper surface of the disk to the center, and is discharged from the outlet port on the upper part of the drum.
• Liquid-liquid separation: that is, the separation of emulsion, called separation operation. At this time, the disk has a symmetrical distribution of holes, a number of disk stacked, corresponding to the holes to form a vertical aperture. The light liquid flows along the upper surface of the lower disc to the center; the heavy liquid flows along the lower surface of the upper disc to the outer layer of the drum; the solid phase is deposited on the inner wall of the drum and discharged periodically.

Chemical industry

Used in the clarification and purification process of chemicals, removing solid particles impurities from liquids and improving the purity of products.

Pharmaceutical industry

Used for purification of biological fermentation broth, separation of cells after crushing, etc., to improve the efficacy of drugs and reduce the risk of side effects.

Food industry

Used in food processing to remove impurities and water to ensure the taste and quality of food. For example, extraction of cream from milk, clarification of fruit juice and beer, purification of animal and plant oils.

Other industries
